When: Sunday, January 29th | 2:00 - 3:30pm
Where: Somerset Elementary School Gym/Cafeteria RSVP and volunteer signup here! The Somerset Community Association is joining forces with Somerset Elementary PTSA for our annual Somerset Lunar New Year celebration! This event will feature a lion dance, dragon dance with drums, and a Kung Fu performance by the Shaolin master and his students. Come enjoy the festivities and usher in the Year of the Rabbit with old and new friends! Did you know that Lunar New Year is celebrated by more people than any other holiday on earth? It is recognized in East Asian countries, the Hindu-Buddhist calendars of South and Southeast Asia, the Islamic calendar and the Jewish calendar in the Middle East, and is also celebrated by the indigenous Nisga'a people of Canada. This year, the first day of the lunisolar calendar falls on January 22, 2023, which will mark the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit as determined by the Chinese Zodiac. SBCC was built in 2005 with the goal of the facility and programs to be a cornerstone in building a healthy community in South Bellevue. All are welcome to enjoy the variety of programs, classes and events offered throughout the year.
SBCC is celebrating 17 years in January with a variety of free events. The City of Bellevue has published the January 2023 edition of Neighborhood news.
There is a section about special free events to celebrate the 17th anniversary of the South Bellevue Community Center. Bellevue has a new online map to track which streets are plowed.
It is not active at the moment, because it is only live during snow events. Enjoy the quiet until the next snow storm. |
