Interested in Joining the SCA Board of Directors? – An Opportunity to Serve
SCA Board Members serve as representatives-at-large for the entire membership, with the ability to vote on SCA actions and to chair or co-chair SCA Committees. The Board is designed to include 12–15 Directors, each serving a 3-year term, so 4–5 positions are typically filled each year. At the January 2026 Annual Meeting, we plan to elect five directors for a new three-year term beginning February 1, 2026. All dues-paying SCA members are eligible to serve on the Board, with the limitation of only one representative per household (one vote per property). Many Board Members are willing to serve more than one term, providing valuable continuity.
SCA Board of Directors Nomination Process
The Board appoints a Nomination Committee, consisting of one Board or SCA Committee member and at least two community members.
The Nomination Committee will conduct interviews with candidates and review their experience, skills, interests, and availability.
The Committee makes candidate recommendations to the Board, for the Board to nominate and recommend to the membership.
Candidate information will be shared in Annual Meeting announcements and included with the annual dues statement mailed to all residents.
Election at the Annual Meeting
Members may nominate additional candidates from the floor.
All candidates will have a chance to introduce themselves and speak.
Members may vote in person or by proxy to the Board or another member.
The Board will request volunteers from the meeting attendees to form a Tellers Committee who will validate and count all ballots and proxies, and announce the results once confirmed (ideally within 24 hrs).
Please reach out to a current board member, or take a look at somerset98006.org if you are interested or have questions about joining the Board.
